-Abstract of project: For my project I will solely be in charge of putting on a week long event for my sorority Delta Psi Omega. We will have our traditional events that we do every semester, but I will be focusing them around a theme that I will choose in the near future. Rush week is used for students who are interested in joining a sorority or fraternity. The student will attend the different events throughout the week to get to know the organization and the people involved. With this project I will be learning how to lead multiple events with a diverse group of people. Rush week will be put on during the second week of the fall 2017 semester, so I will be planning and finalizing everything throughout the next few months.

-Project Goal: My main goal for this project is to learn how to lead a group of people in an organized and detailed fashion. For the sorority side, I would like to find a minimum of 10 quality members that will add different skills and perspective to our organization.

Title of the project: Delta Psi Omega Rush Week

I believe my EDGE project can help me stand out in a lot of ways. Many students in the hospitality field mostly focus on the hotel side of things for their edge project. However, I want to focus more on building leadership and event planning skills. Not many students have an opportunity to plan different types of events, and this project will help me gain experience and show that I have strength in the event planning area.

LARGER PURPOSE:

This project will help me learn leadership skills while focusing on a potential career path. Also, it will help me learn how to run multiple events at once. These skills will help me learn how to lead many people, which is important when working in management.
